I know some of you may be wondering which are my favorite Beautycounter products because let’s face it, I love them all! But if I had to narrow it down a bit, I would choose The Face Collection, Rejuvenating Radiance Serum, Purifying Charcoal Mask, Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer, Lip Gloss, Cleansing Balm, Daily Shampoo and Daily Conditioner.
As the seasons change your skin needs change too. Here are some of my favorites that will also be a great transition into fall as well.
If you haven’t already read the recent report from the FDA regarding the removal of antibacterials from hand soaps, or safer alternatives, then keep reading!
The FDA has made another move in the right direction with their recent declaration regarding the safety of antibacterials. “Companies will no longer be able to market antibacterial washes with these ingredients because manufacturers did not demonstrate that the ingredients are both safe for long-term daily use and more effective than plain soap and water in preventing illness and the spread of certain infections,” said the FDA.
Using apple cider vinegar for health benefits dates back to 400 B.C., when Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, used it as a cleansing and healing agent. But that’s not it! Apple cider vinegar is rich in enzymes and potassium, it supports a healthy immune system, helps with weight loss and digestion, and removes toxins. It can also be used to maintain beautiful and healthy skin, help whiten your teeth, and remove the bacteria that cause bad breath!
So if you haven’t jumped on the apple cider vinegar band wagon, then now is the time, and here’s why:
Oils have been used for thousands of years in multiple cultures for medicinal and health purposes. They can be applied to your skin, hair and in cooking. If you have a sun burn, oils can hep sooth and hydrate your skin. If you want an anti-aging formula to reduce fine lines, oils can add hydration and smooth out wrinkles. If you are looking for a healthier way to cook, oils can give you the anti-oxidant, heart health benefits and flavor that other cooking ingredients do not.
I use oils for everything: my hair, face, in food, as a perfume, a bronzer and so much more! Here are my favorite oils, their uses and benefits from Beautycounter, Conscious Coconut, Stacia, Egyptian Magic, Spectrum and Avohaus. It’s impressive how beneficial oils are for our health and skin!
Ready to ditch the hot wax? Or, maybe you’re sick of shaving three plus times a week? Then this may be the time to switch over (or start) sugaring. This type of hair removal uses a mix of natural ingredients including sugar, water, lemon juice, and sometimes honey, salt and essentials oils, made into a paste or gel. Since all of these ingredients are natural, you already know that there are no harmful, unknown chemicals that can irritate your skin. 😉 Interested? Read on!
But this isn’t any new age form of hair removal, in fact, sugaring has been practiced for hundreds of years throughout Northern Africa, Greece and the Middle East. It’s one of the most gentlest techniques, and a natural alternative to lasers.
Unlike waxing, sugaring doesn’t attach to live skin cells nor does it remove them. It only sticks to the hair, so it really gets the hair out of the roots without pulling your skin along with it. Less pain!
As we get older, we get wiser about tanning and being under the sun. But for those of you who want a bit of that natural sun kissed glow, it’s important to make sure you soothe and hydrate your skin after you’ve been under the sun for several hours. Although post-sun skin products won’t reverse the sun’s damage, they will lock in moisture and restore the dead skin cells to help new ones grow.
I recommend Beautycounter’s Baby Oil, the Lustro Shimmer Oil, and the Hydrating Face Oil to restore hydration back into your skin, and soothe any sun burns that you may have. Plus, these oils—along with proper water rehydration and gentle exfoliation—will help prolong your tan for weeks!
As some of you may have heard, we have some BIG news here at Beautycounter! We just launched the Protect Body Sun Stick Sunscreen with SPF 30. It’s a new jumbo size that kids love, and so will you.
Why is this my new favorite you ask?—it’s like a spray (easy to apply), but in the form of a stick for your body. I love it because I can use it on the kids (they enjoy applying it onto themselves). The sunscreen stick is great for camp, travel, beach, pool, and everywhere else you use sunscreen. So make sure to replace your aerosol sun spray with this fabulous new product! Spray sunscreens are dangerous, especially for kids because they are more likely than adults to breathe in the chemical toxins being sprayed out of the can, which can cause damage to their lungs. It is also easy to apply in the car. I know that sounds funny but its true. On the way to camp today, my 4 year old covered his whole body with sunscreen without getting messy cream all over the car and his hands. He was so proud, and mom was too!
