As we get older, we get wiser about tanning and being under the sun. But for those of you who want a bit of that natural sun kissed glow, it’s important to make sure you soothe and hydrate your skin after you’ve been under the sun for several hours. Although post-sun skin products won’t reverse the sun’s damage, they will lock in moisture and restore the dead skin cells to help new ones grow.
I recommend Beautycounter’s Baby Oil, the Lustro Shimmer Oil, and the Hydrating Face Oil to restore hydration back into your skin, and soothe any sun burns that you may have. Plus, these oils—along with proper water rehydration and gentle exfoliation—will help prolong your tan for weeks!
Soothe Skin After Sunburn
If you happen to get a sunburn, the Baby Soothing Oil is the perfect solution to add hydration and soothe your skin. It’s made with a mix of organic coconut, jojoba, and sunflower seed oils that are incredibly gentile. This oil absorbs easily, and it won’t leave your skin greasy. Bonus, use this oil on the kids, they love it, take make up off, and I use it for an under eye cream as well. So many users for this “baby” oil.
Hydrate Skin and Make it Glow
There’s nothing like a little shimmer to add onto your beautiful skin tone. The luxurious Lustro Shimmer Dry Oil is made with nourishing jojoba, grape-seed, and sesame oils that hydrate your skin without making it feel greasy. This oil absorbs quickly into your skin to give it a radiant, sun-kissed glow. You can use it from head to toe for a gorgeous bronzed effect. I love it layered over our Hydrate everyday body lotion.
Restore Moisture in Your Face
Don’t forget your face! The Hydrating Face Oil—recently featured on GOOP as one of the best face oils—is an easy way to moisturize your skin and boost radiance. It’s a silky formula made of pure plant oils such as jasmine oil that has a hint of sweet floral scent. Jasmine oil also helps enhance hydration—the perfect solution for anyone with dry or mature skin.
Prolong Your Tan
Second, shower with cooler water because hot water can dehydrate your skin. Make sure to also use a hydrating shower cream or oil instead of a gel. I recommend the Wash Everyday Body Wash. It’s an extremely creamy and gentle, non-drying formula, made with nourishing mongongo oils that help soften and protect your skin while locking in moisture.
Third, gently exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells, which can make your skin look duller. But be sure not to scrub too hard or too much, as you don’t want to remove your tan. The Sugar Body Scrub in Lemongrass is gentle enough for your skin, and is made with real sugar!
Fourth, drink plenty of water (I recommend chlorophyll water) to keep your skin in good health. Water is essential for cell regrowth, which helps your skin glow. I promise, if you drink enough water you WILL notice a difference in your skin—it’s like a free facial.
Lastly, use a formula such as the Lustro Shimmer Dry Oil to give your skin an added bronzed effect to enhance your tanned skin.
But remember, stay safe when you’re under the sun! Use lots of sunscreen (reapply after every 2 hours), and wear sun protective clothing. Your skin will thank you later! 😉
